Arts Council funding
In September 2022, Sinéad was awarded a Grants for the Arts Award from Arts Council of England towards research and development towards her polyphonic version of Othello, where Iago is played by an ensemble of three actors. In collaboration with Trish Wadley Productions.
Sinéad ‘s interview ‘Unity over Unison: Creating AntigoneNOW in Lockdown’, has just come out in Theatre Topics (August 2021), with Margaret Laurena Kemp, Roger Ellis, Dassia N.Posner.
She also published a short reflection, ‘To Be or Not to Be: Art on the Frontline’, in The Âtre, Dirks Theatre Association Publications, Macau, China.
Creative Conversations 2
Sinéad will begin her autumn 2021 series of Creative Conversations with an interview with Dino Fetscher and Robert Bowman, stars of The Normal Heart, at the National Theatre, London, directed by Dominic Cooke. The follow-up is with BAFTA winning actress Naomi Ackie on filming her recent role as Whitney Houston in Sony’s biopic. Monday 1 November 2021, and 13 January 2022: 6.30-7.30pm, online. Exit The King
In August 2021, Sinéad did a month’s exploration of polyphonic characterisation on Ionesco’s Exit The King with students at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art London). It was a collaboration with Ian Morgan and Phil Raymond.
The International Online Theatre Festival 2021 will stream AntigoneNOW in May and University of Iowa USA will stream it on 3-4 May with a live talkback hosted by Jennifer Buckley. School of Sound will stream AntigoneNOW on Saturday 12 December for 24 hours, including a live talkback hosted by Larry Sider at 5pm. Michael Chekhov Association USA (MICHA) will stream 18 December 2021. Valparaiso University USA on 6 February 2021 with a live talkback. SPE Media Festival screening 17-21 March 2021.
Sinéad will lead a twelve week intensive on her book, Michael Chekhov’s Acting Technique: A Practitioner’s Guide (Bloomsbury Methuen 2019). This will be a practical overview of the technique as outlined in the book for actors, directors and teachers. It will run on Saturdays 4-6pm GMT online, from 6 November to 11 December 2021 and from 8 January to 19 February 2022.
